Description
This charming three-bedroom apartment of approx. 65 m² with balcony is located on freehold (no lease!) and on the first floor of a characteristic building in perhaps one of the nicer and more attractive streets of the Watergraafsmeer district, where greenery and nature are still highly regarded: the Zacharias Jansestraat!
Zacharias Jansestraat is a wide street with stately buildings that illustrates well the history and character of the Watergraafsmeer from the early 20th century. The apartment is centrally located just north of Park Frankendael, an estate where the more wealthy Amsterdammer used to spend their time, but is now a lovely park where people can play, meet and relax, in the middle of the Watergraafsmeer. Every last Sunday of the month there is an organic market with good food and drinks.
Furthermore, around the corner there is the cozy Middenweg and the Linnaeusstraat with a wide variety of shops, cafes, fine restaurants and just a stone's throw away the Oostpoort shopping center. There are also several schools and sports facilities nearby, such as the Jaap Edenbaan and the Middenmeer sports fields. Culture lovers can visit the Hermitage, Theater Carré and the Dutch National Opera & Ballet in the Stopera.
Public transport connections are within walking distance (tram/bus around the corner and metro/train at Amstel Station) and within five minutes by car you will be on the A-10 ring road. There is no waiting list for a parking permit in the Watergraafsmeer; for more information about parking se the website of Amsterdam. You can cycle to both Leidseplein and the route along the RIiver Amstel within fifteen minutes by bike.
Approximate lay out:
Ground floor: communal entrance, with private entrance giving access to the apartment on the first floor. The corridor/overflow provides access to the closed kitchen and the bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. The bedroom is currently situated at the front, but because the Zacharias Jansestraat is a particularly quiet street this is of no problem at all. The spacious room en suite gives access at the back to the balcony, facing south. This balcony could possibly be extended on the ground floor extension; VvE permission is already present. The high ceilings, as well as several original stained-glass windows make this property extra charming.
In short, a beautifully located, bright and practical apartment with even greater potential (see the alternative floorplans) and in close proximity to all the facilities and pleasures Amsterdam has to offer and yet enjoying a very quiet location.
